Peaceful Acres Horses is Hiring

PAH is primarily a volunteer-operated small non-profit equine rescue providing loyal long-term care to once at-risk, or slaughter-bound equines. We are hiring for a part-time staff member for 3-4 mornings a week. Our need for this position is a dependable and trainable, motivated person who enjoys caring for equines, and opportunities for healthy physical and mental fitness tasks.

At Peaceful Acres Horses we hold values and virtues in high regard.

  • Dedication
  • Passion
  • Learning
  • Fitness
  • Trustworthiness
  • Teamwork
  • Compassion
  • Humility
  • Service
  • Resillience

We are a community of ordinary people doing extraordinary work for people and equines. Weekday availability of our incredible volunteers is an area where PAH is weak, so we are hoping to bring on a staff member to strengthen that area, and allow for Executive Director and Leadership Coach Nanci Beyerl to be able to put full focus on building and hosting equine-led experiences and programs to support the organization and participants. Dependability is crucial for this position.

The job tasks include:

  • Feed (training to operate the RTV is required) – hay and grain,  supplements and medications as needed.
  • Water – access to clean water is incredibly important to the health of equines. They drink a lot of water!
  • Muck – stall and paddock picking
  • Restock – prepare environment for the others on the team for a smooth and efficient flow of tasks.
  • Tidy – keeping a tidy and neat Stable and office/reception cabin is multi-beneficial – deter pests, secure safety and health, encourage new member and donor connections, and express general consideration for PAH and owner Nanci Beyerl.
  • Welcoming volunteers and guests
  • Visual checks to proactively manage potential injury/illness/safety concerns with Nanci
  • Daily checks for updates to care and farm systems (private Facebook group, whiteboards in the Stable, communication with Nanci)

(We want you to learn, know and monitor the rescues, not just go through the motions of care.)

Applicants must be 18+ years old, able to lift 40+ lbs, have reliable transportation, warm outdoor activity clothes, spikes for boots for safety on ice, love learning, enjoy equines, work well as a team, lead yourself well, and appreciate service to others. We are big believers in Givers Gain and being Happy Helpers. Our team is a mix of all kinds of people, but our Why is the rescues getting high-quality long-term care. The horses and donkeys unite us and through caring for them and our belief in PAH’s mission, we grow and improve as individuals too.

You will have access to our discounted Horsin’Around Buddy Program led by Nanci to gain more experience, learn safe handling and hands-on care, specialized ground-based horsemanship and leadership skills, and build a deeper bond with an individual equine. This program is one of the ways that we develop higher equine education and stronger roots with the PAH community. This position isn’t for people that don’t “play well with others”, we love equines and people here (although I can appreciate that sometimes you may like being around the horses more than people – they are incredible animals.) Please, spend some time viewing our website, learn about PAH and understand our mission.

With all that being said, if you think this will be a good fit, the next step is to email me to schedule a phone call so that we can get introduced and then connect you with Nanci. Email: helloPAHconnect@gmail.com
