Update: Andie has been Adopted!

Andie

Andie is trying her hardest to release the cruelty of her past, but it holds on to her as if she will carry the weight around with her for a lifetime. But we have a different plan here at Peaceful Acres Horses, our plan is to show her kindness, compassion, consistency, care and love every moment we are with her and perhaps she will allow the last harms of abuse to fade away.

Andie was saved from the slaughter pipeline and was terrified of people. She trembled at the sight of people and would not let us anywhere near her. Times were difficult for Andie because not only was she terrified she was also in foal! Because of her fears and reactions to us, biting and kicking, it was not easy to treat her when she arrived at PAH. A few months into her restoration at PAH Andie gave birth to an adorable little mule baby – Amos is his name. Thankfully Andie was a good mom and she did not need any help with her son. After a little while we put Andie and Diva together with their new born babies, we figured Diva being so friendly might help Andie to not be as terrified, it worked to some degree. Amos and Diamond became best friends and are still inseparable to this day. But Andie on the other hand is still shy and prefers the company of other minis over the attention from people. She allows us to bring her for walks and she loves her grass time, I guess you can say she tolerates us.

We are very proud of Andie for trusting us enough now that she no longer wants to strike out to protect herself. We are still holding hope that someday Andie will be able to have a Forever Guardian of her very own, but if that day never comes, we will love her for her lifetime and we will always keep our promises to her and others like her who carry the scars of abuse and neglect perpetrated upon them. We love you Andie, you are safe with us!
